Top Dog Exteriors builds room additions, garages, sunrooms, three-season rooms and dormers in the Greater Pittsburgh area — from footing excavation through roofing, siding and finish.
The Difference That Actually Matters
Additions go wrong at the seams — where new roof meets old, where new siding meets weathered. Because the excavation, the roofing and the siding all run through us, those seams are our responsibility alone.
An addition doesn’t fail in the middle. It fails at the seams — where the new roof ties into the old one, where new siding meets twenty-year-old siding. If three different companies own those three seams, nobody owns the leak.

Top Dog Exteriors is THE BEST. I wanted essentially a day bed built in my backyard. They scheduled me the same day I contacted them and within just a few days it was fully completed beautifully. Perfection. Arrived on time as promised and work was done faster than expected. I love it. Sturdy and beautiful. They even looked at my original plans and suggested a few improvements to the design that even saved money!! Can’t say enough goo…

Tyler & team did a great job recruiting lacing our back porch stairs and landing! Excellent communication throughout the process. Workers cleaned up after themselves. A couple odds & ends to finish up after themselves main work was done,…
Additions & Remodeling Questions, Answered Straight
How much does a home addition cost in Pittsburgh?
Additions in the Greater Pittsburgh area commonly run $180–$400 per square foot depending on whether plumbing is involved, foundation type, roof complexity and finish level. A simple bump-out is at the low end; a primary suite with a full bath sits at the high end. We give an honest range before you spend money on drawings.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We pull the permit, schedule the inspections and meet the inspector. Every municipality we serve handles setbacks, footing inspections and framing sign-off a little differently, and knowing that in advance is most of the job.
How long does an addition take?
Most residential additions run 8–16 weeks from footings to final inspection, with permitting adding 2–8 weeks in front of that depending on the municipality. Weather and material lead times are the two variables we cannot fully control, and we tell you where the risk is instead of promising a date we cannot hold.
Will the new roof and siding match my existing house?
This is the hardest part of any addition, and it is why the roofing and the siding stay under one contract rather than being split between companies. On an older home with weathered siding, an exact match is sometimes impossible — in which case we will tell you honestly and propose a design solution, like re-siding one full elevation to a natural break line, rather than delivering a patch that looks like a patch.
